On May 20, AIoT enterprise Terminus Group and the Institute of Engineering Artificial Intelligence at Tongji University entered into a strategic partnership to jointly advance research and development in spatial intelligence. The collaboration will focus on multi-source heterogeneous data fusion, scene understanding, and decision execution within spatial intelligence, accelerating the application of cutting-edge technologies in industry while cultivating specialized talent.
The signing ceremony was held during the "AI-empowered Discipline Innovation and Development Conference" organized by the Institute of Engineering Artificial Intelligence at Tongji University. Dr. Xiansheng Hua, CTO of Terminus Group and Executive Dean of the institute, together with Mr. Bohua Xu, Board Secretary, Senior Vice President, and Assistant to the CEO of Terminus Group, attended the ceremony on behalf of the company.

According to the agreement, cooperation will center on three areas: innovative research and technical breakthroughs, resource sharing and technology transfer, and talent development and exchange.
Innovative research and technical breakthroughs: The two sides will focus on R&D in multi-source heterogeneous data fusion, spatial scene understanding, and intelligent decision-making and execution. Terminus Group will leverage its strengths on the application side by providing spatial intelligence scenarios and hardware testing platforms, while Tongji's Institute of Engineering Artificial Intelligence will lead the development of core algorithms and system-level implementation. Both parties will jointly invest R&D efforts to tackle challenges in the field of engineering intelligence, aiming for breakthroughs in the development of an "operating system" for engineering intelligence.
Resource sharing and technology transfer: Both sides will capitalize on their respective strengths to jointly apply for major national, provincial, and industry-level research projects, file patents and other intellectual property, co-author high-quality papers and research compilations, and collaboratively promote the commercialization and industrial application of research.
Talent development and exchange: The partnership will also establish mechanisms for talent cultivation and exchange. Terminus Group will provide opportunities for high-quality project practice and organize industry-oriented training on frontier technologies, while Tongji will contribute outstanding interns and graduates, helping to accelerate the flow of top talent back into the spatial intelligence industry.
As a core direction of third-generation AI, spatial intelligence is reshaping industrial landscapes at an unprecedented pace. In line with this trend, Terminus Group has comprehensively upgraded its three strategic pillars—AIoT domain models, AIoT infrastructure, and AIoT agents—based on the requirements of decision-making, perception, and execution in spatial intelligence. The focus areas of this partnership closely follow that roadmap.
To ensure effective implementation, the two parties will also establish a dedicated working group responsible for the execution of collaborative projects and the day-to-day management of research activities.
